Short Stories – Shadow of the Past

The story idea for Shadow of the Past came from talking to my elderly aunt a while after my uncle had died. A man had asked her to join him for a cup of tea. She was lonely, she was single, but despite all that she couldn’t allow herself the possibility of any further happiness through loyalty to my uncle’s memory. It is the same with so many elderly people finding themselves alone after many years of marriage. I asked myself ‘What if she’d given herself the permission to say yes?’ And so a story idea was born and Iris McCreedy, the name the story originally went under, came to life and had the opportunity to explore the ‘What if?’ that my aunt held back from.

A number of my short stories are available as single downloads from www.alfiedog.com You can choose a number of formats to suit different ereaders or to read on computer screen or print out. My stories can be found HERE
